Director
Stan Hornagold is a Project Manager and Chartered Quantity Surveyor (Construction Cost Specialist).
From 1969 to 1978 he was a Quantity Surveyor. From 1978 to 1987, he was a founding Partner of Beard Dove Project Management Partnership, which became one of the largest project management companies in the UK. Stan designed and wrote their Quality Assurance procedures, which were the first in the UK construction industry to be assessed and approved by the British Standards Institute.
In 1987, he formed Hornagold & Hills, Management Consultants, which manages capital projects and delivers organisational change. The Company has operated in the UK, Kuwait, Dubai, Lebanon, West Indies, Hungary and Spain for blue-chip Clients in both the public and private sectors.
Stan has 30 years experience in Project Management, which includes private sector and public sector projects. He specialises in the management of complex programmes involving large numbers of stakeholders. He was an adviser to both the UK and French Governments on the assessment of the bids for the channel tunnel.
From 1998 to 2003, he was also the Programme Director for the delivery of London Underground’s Public Private Partnership. This is the largest public/private finance deal ever undertaken worldwide.
Stan also provides change management advice, which has included restructuring companies, preparing quality assurance procedures and managing change initiatives. He was an adviser to Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs in changing the branding of 40% of the UK Civil Service when Inland Revenue merged with HM Customs and Excise.
From 2008 to 2009 he was an Interim Director for the Majid Al Futtaim Group LLC, based in Dubai. He was responsible for the introduction of change to the procedures for running the business and managed a department managing projects in 12 countries in the Middle East.
He has managed projects in the UK and internationally in the commercial, health, housing, defence and transport sectors. In addition to major capital projects, he has spent much of his time changing the way that organisations are structured and the way people work. He has prepared quality assurance procedures, process manuals, business strategies and business plans for a wide range of organisations.
Stan is also an Executive Board Member of the Construction Industry Council and a member of the Board of the London Thames Gateway Development Corporation, which is responsible for regenerating East London. This is a Government appointment and includes the legacy issues related to the construction of the 2012 Olympic Games.
